Champion U.S. Skier Andrew Kurka Races Toward the 2022 Paralympic Winter Games

The Paralympic gold medalist is dedicated to pushing boundaries and building a better world on and off the slopes.

Team USA Paralympic athlete Andrew Kurka has had an amazing career, winning over a dozen gold, silver and bronze medals at the World Cup, World Championships and Winter Paralympics. Most recently, he took home two medals at both the Lillehammer 2021 Para Snow Sports World Championships in Norway and the Åre World Cup in Sweden in January 2022. Netcracker is proud to continue its decade-long sponsorship of Kurka as he prepares to go for the gold at the 2022 Paralympic Winter Games in Beijing, taking place from March 4-13.

Kurka will compete in multiple alpine skiing events, including Downhill, Giant Slalom, Super-G and Super Combined. He hopes to repeat the success of his 2018 run in Pyeongchang, South Korea, where he won a gold medal in the men’s Downhill event and a silver medal in men’s Super-G event. When Kurka was asked what his 2018 wins meant to him, he said: “When you wake up every morning just to strive for a single goal or dream, the moment that you finally accomplish it gives a euphoric sense of peace because you know that you weren’t wasting your time. It gives a purpose to all of your hard work and leaves you with a feeling of happiness that I can’t even describe.”

Kurka also actively volunteers to give back and make a difference in communities around the world. He has been a longtime supporter of Adaptive Spirit, a nonprofit organization in the telecommunications industry that fund-raises for the U.S. Paralympic Ski and Snowboard Team. He also works with a variety of programs, including Classroom Champions and Challenge Alaska, to mentor and teach adaptive sports to children and aspiring athletes. “The goal for me is to help make a difference, no matter how small, in the future of these kids,” said Kurka.

Netcracker wishes Andrew and Team USA the best of luck in Beijing.
