NetCracker Promotes Service Syndication as the Key to Monetizing the Services Ecosystem
Three-Step Approach to Service Syndication Drives Service Provider Revenue
WALTHAM, MA — June 23, 2008 — NetCracker Technology is unveiling a three-step approach to service syndication that will enable Service Providers to monetize the emerging Services Ecosystem. Using this approach, they can profit from the Services Ecosystem and establish themselves as important players in the resulting new value chain.
In the Services Ecosystem, Communications Service Providers (CSPs), Application Service Providers, as well as content creators and distributors, buy and sell service elements from each other to create unique services and service bundles. CSPs must have the ability to rapidly assemble new services from service elements provided by Ecosystem players, and they must have the ability to syndicate service elements to the Ecosystem.
Service Providers can syndicate their services by following a three-step process:
- Abstract service elements from the network
- Build atomic service elements and a service assembly infrastructure
- Expose service elements to third parties via open APIs
Third parties can then create innovative new services by accessing — and paying for — CSP service elements. CSPs who follow these steps will build a foundation that will enable them to monetize their investment in the new Ecosystem.
“A fundamental shift in the way users acquire, share, and manipulate content is already taking place,” said Sanjay Mewada, NetCracker’s Vice President of Strategy. “Going forward, CSPs need to leverage their existing network and service capabilities via service syndication in order to open up new markets and revenue streams.”
Sanjay will share his perspectives at the TM Forum’s Service Delivery Platforms Summit that will take place in San Francisco on July 1, 2008. In his presentation — Service Syndication Drives SDP-Based Services Ecosystem — Sanjay will discuss the challenges being overcome by leading CSPs who are creating service syndication environments.
At Management World 2008, NetCracker demonstrated service syndication in the Syndicated Services Catalyst Project. The Catalyst Project explored the shifting value chain within the communications industry and focused on ways CSPs can launch products more rapidly and sell service elements to other players. NetCracker contributed its Service Management and Service Catalog solutions for order entry, service provisioning, and service activation across CSP borders.
