NetCracker Brings Subscription Management to NGN OSS Blueprint Catalyst at TeleManagement World Nice 2007

Catalyst Project Implements Standards-Based OSS for Accelerating Converged Service Delivery

WALTHAM, Mass. – May 1, 2007 – NetCracker Technology announced today that the company will be providing its Service Inventory and Service Provisioning & Activation modules with added Subscription Management and near-real-time service execution capabilities to the NGN OSS Blueprint Catalyst Project at TeleManagement World in Nice, France this May. Sponsored by France Telecom and QinetiQ, this is Phase 4 of the Catalyst Project and will demonstrate the ability of new NGOSS contracts to deliver next-generation converged services like application and content delivery.

"We are pleased to contribute our subscription and service management capabilities to TMF standards development, in the continuing transformation of the service layer in its support of converged services," said Sanjay Mewada, NetCracker's vice president of strategy. "Subscription management for converged services is being recognized by leading service providers as a vital NGOSS component. It manages services over diverse personalization, CPE, and network and business domains, and also provides an interface between the network and operations environments to manage user profiles in near-real-time."

The NGN OSS Blueprint Catalyst Project will demonstrate how standards such as NGOSS contracts, NGOSS SID, and TISPAN subscription management allow the easy introduction of converged services on next-generation networks. Service providers face significant challenges when they have multiple, independent service management systems with separate service policy definition repositories. Then the delivery and personalization of one service as well as its relation to other services over various business, network, and application domains becomes a complex and costly management challenge.

By following the standards and implementing innovative subscription management techniques, the Catalyst Project teams are addressing converged service delivery issues. The overriding objectives are the demonstration of an enhanced services scenario with content delivery, and the publication of standardized NGOSS implementation contracts. A converged services ordering and provisioning scenario with a focus on content delivery will be used, which may include fixed, mobile, and other services such as video.

"Through participation in the TM Forum NGN OSS Blueprint Catalyst Project, France Telecom is able to team with NetCracker and other leading OSS providers and system integrators to test standards-based solution options that will help us improve our OSS infrastructure to support the IMS and non-IMS converged services," said Samir Dohmir, IT Architect for NG OSS at France Telecom, the sponsor of the Catalyst Project. "NetCracker, with the other teams, is successfully demonstrating to our business owners how NGOSS contracts and service subscription management can be used to improve data consistency and simplify OSS integration."
