NetCracker Merges the Power of Network and IT to Deliver Content and Rich-Media Services Through its v7.0 Product Set
NICE, France May 22, 2007 NetCracker Technology, the leader in Service Layer Transformation™, announced today the introduction of its innovative v7.0 product set, enabling service providers to fulfill and provision IT infrastructure, resources, and applications as well as the network from a single platform.
Merging the Power of Network and IT: Moving OSS to the IT Domain
OSS for service providers has traditionally managed the network at Layer 3 and below. The need to manage infrastructure at Layer 3 and above has increased dramatically as a result of the current focus on content and rich-media services. These complex services require the choreographing of switches and routers in the network with video and content servers and applications in the IT domain. NetCracker v7.0 merges the
power of Network and IT, managing Layers 1–7 from a single platform. Using NetCracker v7.0, service providers can now fulfill and provision IT infrastructure, resources, and applications as well as the network.
The limitations of traditional OSS are underscored when content-based and rich-media services are being fulfilled and provisioned over complex infrastructure and across partner ecosystems. NetCracker's v7.0 product set is targeted at this real need to orchestrate physical and logical resources and applications on an end-to-end basis to deliver converged and content-based services.
Using NetCracker v7.0, service providers can now:
- Deploy converged and rich-media services significantly faster
- Use a single platform for fulfillment and provisioning - from Layers 1 through 7 - and eliminate duplication and siloed systems
- Acquire an end-to-end view - from the core of the network to the applications that enable a converged service
- Create high reusability and a "mix and match" of service elements (devices, servers, applications)
"By enabling the powerful and seamless alignment of Network and IT, NetCracker v7.0 brings extensive carrier-grade OSS capabilities to the IT domain," said Andrew Feinberg, President and CEO of NetCracker Technology. "NetCracker is committed to true innovation that enables the delivery of rich media and content-based services for service providers."
NetCracker v7.0 Introduces Over 100 Major, New Features
In addition to making devices and applications from Layers 1–7 accessible for fulfillment and provisioning, NetCracker v7.0 adds over 100 new features in this release. It offers new, standardized, out-of-the-box templates for a range of new services such as: complex mobile, IP-based business, multi-play mass market, and wholesale. The new v7.0 framework and application modules provide key functionality and analytics for
understanding the cost of delivering a service. The product set also provides tools that enable service providers to monitor the service experience and create personalized service bundles on the fly.
NetCracker v7.0 also incorporates a range of new and legacy network and IT technologies to help service providers consolidate their fulfillment functions on a single platform. In addition, v7.0 is the foundation of the new Industry Solutions that NetCracker announced at TMW Nice.
