With the release of NetCracker 8.0 in December 2009, NetCracker Technology underscored its commitment to serving the Communications Industry through enhancing its OSS/BSS functionality. Version 8.0 expands NetCracker’s OSS capabilities into the Workforce Management domain, enabling service providers to optimize OpEx spent on internal and external personnel. Version 8.0 also enables higher efficiency and control of fulfillment and service management by incorporating BAM (Business Activity Monitoring) and pre-integrated adapters.

The Order Management module brings efficiency, accuracy, and automation to order management processes — speeding time to revenue and increasing customer satisfaction. To manage the Service Layer, the NetCracker product suite includes the Service Inventory, Service Provisioning & Activation, Customer Impact Analysis, and Telecom Cost Management modules that are the basis for introducing, deploying, and delivering services effectively while maintaining high QoS. To manage legacy and next generation network resources, NetCracker provides five modules: Resource Inventory, Discovery & Reconciliation, Design & Planning, Asset Management, and Outside Plant.

Workforce Management — a new module included in Version 8.0 — provides a full spectrum of out-of-the-box workforce management functionality including workforce inventory, work order handling, task scheduling and optimization, as well as partner chain management. Workforce Management enables service providers to manage field operations as part of the service fulfillment lifecycle. This elevates the visibility of resource capacity and allows for business process orchestration and performance optimization. Ultimately, this improves operations efficiency and reduces TCO.

NetCracker Framework is the foundation that supports all the NetCracker modules. It ensures that all components share the same information and have unified security and seamless business process flows. All NetCracker products are built on an open, n-tier architecture based on Sun's J2EE standards. On each tier, powerful industry-standard applications are employed to ensure far-ranging scalability and smooth integration. All NetCracker modules are pre-integrated and are built on this foundation to ensure compatibility.
