NetCracker Asset Management
Learn more A well-though-out asset management strategy can save a Communications Service Provider (CSP) millions if not billions of dollars over the life of the network and have a direct impact on the balance sheet.
In recent years, the challenge of optimizing and managing assets has multiplied. The network now includes Layers 1 through 7 of the OSI model, requiring management of data centers, services, and software licenses to deliver converged services. CSPs must manage logical and IT assets — not just network assets. In addition, end user and network devices have become much more complex.
The NetCracker Asset Management module extends the capabilities of the Resource Inventory and Outside Plant modules by providing tools to track all network-related assets throughout their lifecycle in a single, centralized data repository.
The following Asset Management components minimize manual and routine tasks and enable the effective and optimal management of assets:
- Warehouse Management
- Spare Parts Management
- IMACD Tracking
- CPE Lifecycle Management
The Spare Parts Management component, for example, organizes data hierarchically, and defines relationships between asset items and asset item groups. It ensures the specification of sub-components, hardware, or other software that requires attribute checks such as version number and size.
Asset Management models customer-specific assets and the relationships between them. This provides critical linkage between the customer, their services, and the network resources assigned to fulfill these services. Key benefits include:
- Increased operational efficiency through network asset lifecycle management
- Reduced capital expenses through the tracking of all assets including CPEs, installed equipment, and spares in a single system
- Easy integration with external systems
