NetCracker Resource Inventory
Learn more In a dynamic and highly competitive service environment, a service provider's ability to expand the network and support increasing customer demands depends heavily on the availability of up-to-date network inventory information. An accurate resource inventory management system allows the service provider to improve understanding and control of its communications infrastructure, to expedite the management of customer orders, and to automate the provisioning of services. As a result, service providers can create and deliver converged services efficiently and maximize the return on their network asset.
The NetCracker Resource Inventory module provides a central repository of the service provider's entire physical and logical network infrastructure as well as extended capabilities for capacity, location, and number management.
The Resource Inventory module is built on the following components:
- Logical and Physical Object Models
- Location Management Component to manage regions, cities, sites, buildings, etc.
- Templates for configuring equipment, sites, etc.
- Number Planners including IP Address Planner, Telephone Number Planner, VPN Planner, and VPI/VCI
- An Address Repository that can be integrated with external street guides
- A constantly updated Device Library
Visualization Capability
The module’s visualization functionality is based on Network Configurator, a fast and flexible vector graphics-based rendering engine. Network Configurator provides extended visualization capabilities including:
- Topology views
- Circuit views and end-to-end assignment diagrams
- Floor plans and rack population views
- Shelf configuration views and card views
Reporting Capability
The Reporting Engine provides a set of pre-configured reports such as CLR/DLR, Cross Connects, and Capacity Utilization and also enables users to add new reports and re-configure existing reports.
Systems Integration Capability
Resource Inventory allows service providers to leverage seamlessly other systems as data sources and to incorporate them transparently into the new back office infrastructure. Integration scenarios include:
- On-demand data fetching and updating
- Scheduled reconciliation
- Business process level integration
Key benefits include:
- Complete, up-to-date view of the entire network: Greatly improves the efficiency of the fulfillment and assurance processes and thereby improves customer satisfaction
- Central repository of network infrastructure information used by all back office systems: Enables a high level of automation which lowers operational costs
- Effective and comprehensive visual reporting capabilities: Provide insight into the network and enable the optimization of capital and operational expenses
- A metadata approach: Allows for hierarchical resource modeling
