Panel Speaking Sessions

Tuesday, October 9

  • 5:20 PM
  • Zero Touch
  • Automation Track
    • Ari Banerjee, VP Marketing & Strategy, Netcracker
    • Marton Sabli, Head of Solution & Service Readiness, Ericsson

    • Bart Vanbrabant, CTO, Inmanta

As the software-defined and function-virtualized network become mainstream, the door is now open for change - even radical change - in OSS.

Key questions on Zero Touch are:

    • Don't we need Analytics and Algorithms to automate intelligent machine learning before we can do Zero Touch?
    • Can 'Black Boxes' work without ongoing intelligent inputs? For which Problems?
    • Don't we need Analytics, 'Expert Systems' and 'Open Loop' Tools for Network Operations live personnel to capture their knowledge?
    • What can we learn from the experience of Self-Organizing Networks (SON) that were stopped dead for almost 2 years by a 'Closed Loop' automation approach to complex RF spectrum optimization The overall focus of this session is on practical approaches to Automation of Management, Orchestration and Optimization.

Wednesday, October 10

  • 2:45 PM
  • NFV Revenue Generation
  • Business & Services Track
    • Sue White, Head of SDN/NFV Portfolio Marketing, Netcracker
    • Bryan Madden, Director Marketing, Intel
    • Hideyuki Tsugane, Director, Trend Micro
    • Dhiman Chrowdhury, VP Business Development, IP Infusion
    • Raanan Tzemach, VP Product Management, Telco Systems
    • Moderator: Gail Smith, Founder, SD-WAN Practice Lead, Cavell

A key goal for NFV is to enable new revenue and service agility. This panel will discuss the lessons that can be drawn after five years of innovation, development and deployment. Where have been the key use cases for application? Has the low-hanging fruit been picked? Where are the next targets? How can the benefits be leveraged into the future?

  • 5:30 PM
  • Practically Achieving Large-Scale Automation in CSPs
  • Automation Track
    • Jared Kellogg, VP SDN Strategy, NEC/Netcracker
    • Erez Zelikovitz, VP SDN & NFV Line of Business, ECI

Software-enabled network technology such as SDN and NFV and their associated management frameworks promise high degrees of innovation with automation. However, in many cases, these benefits are not yet fully being achieved or are still limited to proof of concept. Are existing CSP operational and business models acting as a “handbrake” to widespread automation and innovation using SDN/NFV? The panel will discuss the practicalities of achieving automation, discuss existing success stories and what they believe needs to change to truly achieve large-scale automation based on software enabled networks.
