The Lead Specialist, Visa Strategy & Compliance Group will work with international immigration processes, assisting the Director of International Immigration and extended worldwide team.
Build and establish new processes of obtaining business and work permits (WPs) to different countries for employees and new hires, including searching information via official sources such as Foreign Ministries or Migration, embassies, or Migration offices;
Establishing relationships with outside counsel and requesting their assistance and pricelists;
Defining WP requirements and how we meet them; coordinating efforts with other departments in the company based on whether a sponsor in host country is required, whether or not to transfer to local payroll, whether or not there is a prevailing wage or a quota for new hires, and other factors;
Prepare visas and work permits based on the existing processes and tracking process changes in the following countries where we have offices or clients:
North America (USA, Canada); LATAM (Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, DR, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay); Europe (Andorra, Belgium, Croatia, Germany, Italy, Macedonia, Spain, Switzerland, UK); Middle East (Turkey, UAE); APAC (Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, NZ, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan); Africa (South Africa).
This position will also handle U.S. immigration processes from beginning to end, including: preparing nonimmigrant visa petitions and applications, including Blanket and Individual L1s, H1Bs and TNs, and handling RFEs; understanding and driving the start-to-end processing of Green Card applications via PERM Labor Certification and multi-national manager channels, either in-house or in collaboration with an outside counsel; and working closely with the Director of International Immigration to ensure that the company is meeting all statutory compliance requirements, such as legal immigration postings, Public Access Files, and PERM Audit Files.
This position is also responsible for: collecting and compiling relevant supporting documentation from employee and management team; instructing employees and handling visa applications; coordinating efforts with other departments at different stages of the process, including Legal and Finance (re- payrolls, prevailing wage compliance, salary calculations, tax issues, invoicing), HR (re- relocations, contracts/assignment letters, management approvals), PMs (re- statuses of requests, timeframes, resource planning), IT ERP (re- innovations, ERP system improvements, fixing issues), Work Force Management (re- employees’ assignments on projects, their skills); working closely with outside immigration counsel on immigration policies and practices; working to drive visa applications to completion in as expeditious a manner as possible; creating, organizing, and maintaining files, archiving/retrieving records from storage and generating active/closed file reports; monitoring case statuses and furnishing reports to the Director of International Immigration; handling services agreement with outside counsel and review and process invoices accordingly; foreseeing and escalating any issues regarding visa processing.
Strong knowledge of worldwide immigration procedures (as determined by test at the interview);
1 year of experience working in a telecom or software company with proven ability to formulate specialized knowledge arguments relevant in government visa petitions;
5 years of experience working in a fast-paced, multi-cultural global environment
Bachelor’s degree in international law, global economics, international management, or equivalent education
5 years of experience in international immigration (processing visas and work permits).
