Netcracker Technology is looking to hire a Data Center Engineer to be based out of our office in downtown Cincinnati. In this role, you will be part of a team responsible for supporting all data center infrastructure related tasks. This role will involve unpredictable maintenance windows at times, which will require physical presence at the data center. In the event of this likely scenario, this team works together to ensure there is always on-call coverage each week.
Create and maintain data center documentation, inventory, racks design specifications, network diagrams, maintenance guides and other methodologies documentation, ensure documentation is complete and up-to-date.
Monitor the connectivity schema, ensure timely implementation of changes
Review, approve and support hardware (servers, storage, network) repairs procedures
Plan in details and conduct maintenance windows to support production environment and prepare related incident reports
Plan backup and retention schemes and data replications
Conduct face-to-face/phone call meetings with the customer technical representatives
Define data center services and infrastructure based on requirements and SLAs.
Monitor and plan data center power and cooling capacity
Perform data centers support and inspections, report change plans in IT Infrastructure
Conduct requirements collection and analysis with further participation in technical design review.
Determine all hardware and materials required to complete each new build and retrofit project and procure from suppliers.
Coordinate logistics (shipping, receiving, RMA, secure storage, and loading dock) with building management. Ensure proper receipt notification and equipment accounting with purchasing team.
Setup and maintain hardware and data center infrastructure components, troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve problems, as needed order and restock supply inventories.
Liaise with vendors for issues, repairs, etc.
Prepare and optimize physical network infrastructure.
Perform Incidents management and risks mitigation related to servers / storage /network infrastructure.
Assist Systems Engineers and Administrators in troubleshooting component, connectivity, and device failures.
Establish remote access capabilities in support of IT teams.
Maintain security and ensure compliance with security policies and procedures
Participate in facility walk-throughs with 2nd & 3rd party staff.
Provide expertise to Global Network Support, Operations Support, Customers Support and Quality Assurance teams on a daily basis.
Required Skills & Experience:
3-5 years of experience working in an enterprise size IT environment. Experience and demonstrable knowledge must include:
Large-scale data center technologies;
Enterprise networking and storage equipment installations;
Fiber and copper data cabling including terminating, test equipment, test parameters and test techniques;
Dell, Fujitsu, Supermicro servers and storage models;
PCI DSS, SOC II and Uptime Institute Tier Standards;
Industry standard monitoring applications;
Microsoft Exchange Mail;
IT asset management;
Data center-wide upgrades and network reconfiguration;
Ability to work in an on-call schedule, along with occasional after hours and during weekends. Must be within a 1 hour drive from our office / data center in downtown Cincinnati.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs in a confined and/or raised environment.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related field (highly preferred)
