Machina White Paper: IoT and 5G Business Grows for Service Providers

Netcracker cited as key IoT business enabler for U.K. smart grid program.

It was back in January 2016 that Netcracker announced an extension to its relationship with O2 in the U.K. for a large-scale M2M initiative. That same effort—the U.K.'s Smart Meter Implementation Programme—has now been recognized by Machina Research as a primary example of how service providers can build and grow new IoT businesses.

This white paper from Machina Research examines Netcracker's role in helping O2 drive the U.K.'s smart grid initiative. It explains how Netcracker's next-generation BSS provides a single platform to deliver a variety of services. It manages onboarding and settlement for complex partner ecosystems across multiple utility service providers, laying the foundation for continuous service innovation across a community of partners.

Machina explains that these capabilities become critical because utility providers, as well as companies across other industries, see IoT initiatives as a means to implement and monetize more services and forms of customer engagement. Using the granular data the real-time smart grid provides, it becomes possible to enable personalization, new types of controls and real-time monitoring and reporting.
